Formed in 2019, we are neighbors on the westside fighting for real solutions to our housing crisis.
Let’s create a more affordable, sustainable and inclusive community where everyone on the Westside can afford to live, work, grow and contribute.
Mission Statement
Westside For Everyone believes meaningful access to quality homes will create a better Los Angeles for everyone. Together we learn, identify transformative solutions, and take action together to make change.
Our Vision
We envision a Westside where housing affordability doesn’t get in the way of what the westside has to offer.
We want to live in a community that reflects the values we have today, not the exclusionary practices of decades past. We envision a westside that is:
Inclusive. When we all come together, we can invite a future for the Westside that is more inclusive. We believe families, young adults, and seniors all deserve the opportunity to thrive here, and that welcoming immigrants and BIPOC people means creating more homes for them to live in our community.
Climate friendly. We believe that the climate crisis demands walkable communities and housing near public transportation and jobs to reduce the need for personal cars, the #1 cause of carbon emissions in California.
Why It Matters
An inclusive community needs housing options that work for everyone.
More residents on the Westside are spending bigger portions of their earnings on housing, leaving less for things like child care, food, and healthcare.
We believe that:
Our community will benefit from homes in all shapes, sizes and price points so that people can afford to create a home and stay here over time.
We need homes that are near public transportation and in walking distance from community amenities like parks, shops, and schools.
We are coming together to ask Los Angeles leaders to plan for a future where all Angelenos can afford a home.
Who We Are
We are a volunteer-driven, grassroots-supported group that was formed by neighbors.
Together, we are students, parents, renters, homeowners, small business owners, nonprofit workers, native Angelenos, immigrants.
Most importantly, we are community members who share a vision for a more affordable and accessible Westside and Los Angeles.
